Shotokan Karate is a Japanese style of karate founded in Okinawa, Japan by Master Gichin Funakoshi, who wished to promote a system of total mental and physical discipline. This style emphasizes strong, low stances, powerful basic techniques, and mastery of both kata (form) and kumite (sparring).
We'd like to extend a big "thank you!" to all the athletes, judges and volunteers who made the 47th National Tournament such a success. The Mid-Atlantic region was happy to host this year and we look forward to future AAKF events!
